The summary meeting of the collaboration on cryogenic system of BEPCII (Major Upgrade of Beijing Electron-Positron Collider) between TIPC and IHEP (Institute of High Energy Physics, CAS) was held at IHEP on July 11, 2007. Officers from Bureau of Basic Science of CAS, directors of the two institutes and some of the project participants attended this meeting. The cryogenic system is a critical component of the BEPCII project with many very complex high-techs. In September 2004, the Agreement on Joint Construction of BEPCII Cryogenic System was signed between TIPC and IHEP, which is supported and coordinated by the Bureau of Basic Science of CAS. During the past three years, through tightly cooperating and based on the merits of complementing know-how, the two institutes overcame various technical difficulties and completed the construction of the cryogenic system with high quality finally, which guarantied the general BEPCII program on schedule effectively. During the meeting, both Directors of IHEP (Prof. Cheng Hesheng) and TIPC (Prof. Liu Xinhou) recalled the course of the three-year collaboration and hoped more collaborations between the two institutes could take place in the future based on this excellent example to contribute more to the national basic research cause. Deputy Manager Zhang Chuan of BEPCII and Deputy Director Liang Jingtao of TIPC summarized the collaboration respectively. They considered that TIPC staff involved played a very important role in the project, especially in the works of check and review of the engineering design, fabrication of cryogenic transfer lines, problem analysis during the cryo-plant performance test, design of the control logic and interlock, problem analysis after the first commissioning of the SC magnet's cryogenic system and the joint commissioning. Director Jin Duo of Bureau of Basic Science indicated that this collaboration is not only the basis for the more cooperation between the two institutes, but also an excellent model for the collaboration between other institutes. He expected that the two institutes could build a tighter collaboration to exert advantages of each side further to gain more achievements. After the meeting, all the participants visited the cryogenic site of BEPCII, including BESIII (Beijing Spectrometer III) hall, refrigerator hall, compressor hall and cryogenic control room.
