Openning Ceremony of ICIS 2010
The 31st International Congress on Imaging Science (ICIS2010) under the theme of “Imaging Science and Technology in Digital Era” was successfully held in Beijing from May 12 to May 16, 2010.
The congress is sponsored by the International Committee for Imaging Science (ICIS) and Chinese Society for Imaging Science and Technology (CSIST), co-sponsored byBeijing Institute of Graphic Communication (BIGC), China Lucky Film Corporation, Technical Institute of Physics and Chemistry, CAS (TIPC), and supported by IS&T in USA, ISJ and SPSTJ in Japan, KSIST in Korea, DGPh in Germany and RPS in UK, China Association for Science & Technology (CAST), National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC), Peking University (PKU) and so on.
The Congress proceedings includes 240 full papers out of the 289 applied abstracts. The papers consist of 83 and 157 contributions from overseas and the mainland of China, respectively, and are arranged in 5 different tracks for presentation. The Congress is highlighted by 7 high-end plenary speeches and 6 keynote speeches covering the major arising areas of imaging science and technologies.
This is the second time ICIS Congress is held in Beijing, China. The first one which was the 26th session of the Congress series was held in Beijing 20 years ago under the name of International Congress on Photographic Science (ICPS1990). The change in Congress name and theme coincides with the change of imaging gravity from AgX media based analogue technology to multimedia based digital technology and also reflects the efforts of the International Committee for Imaging Science (ICIS) in broadening its activities to keep in pace with the fast changing imaging technologies and the related industries.
