Invited by Laboratory of Functional Polymer of TIPC, Prof. Koen Clays and Dr. Inge Asselberghs from Katholieke Universiteit Leuven visited our Institute on September 18, 2009 and made a lecture entitled “Nano-engineering of materials and Fluorescent Proteins for Nonlinear Optical Imaging” for our researchers and students.
The main scientific achievements of Prof. Clays are in the field of linear and nonlinear optics of organic molecular. Prof. Clays is worldwide recognized for the development of hyper-Rayleigh scattering as a technique for the experimental determination of the second-order nonlinear optical properties of molecular materials. Recently, Prof. Clays introduced hyper-Rayleigh scattering technique into research on fluorescent protein cooperated with Prof. Anderson from Oxford University, which attracted high attention from international peers. In the lecture, Prof. Clays introduced the latest achievements one this study to our researchers and students, which also aroused high interest of the audiences. The lecture was over with warmly applause.
