Dr. Keming Du from EdgeWave GmbH paid a visit to Technical Institute of Physics and Chemistry (TIPC),CAS on Oct. 9, 2010 and gave a lecture entitled INNOSLAB slab laser oscillators and amplifiers and their applications.
In the lecture, Dr. Keming Du introduced environmental protection concept of laser processing and the characteristics of flat laser produced by EdgeWave GmbH. Using oscillator/amplifier with Nd:YAG slabs over 50mJ pulse energy at 6kHz was obtained. The pulse length is 7ns and the peak power is as high as 7MW. With Nd:YVO4 slabs 400W average power at 50kHz was obtained. The pulse length is as short as 8ns. Because of the high peak power over 300W second harmonic is achieved by two LBO crystals.
Dr. Keming Du has been working at the Fraunhofer Institut eor Laser Technology (ILT) in Germany with development of laser technology in contract of industry since 1985, beginning from high power CO2 lasers, through diode lasers and to diode pumped solid state lasers. From 1993 to 1998 Dr. Du was the Leader of Diode Laser Group at ILT and from1998 to 2001 Dr. Du was the head of the Diode and Solid State Laser Department at ILT. In 2001 he founded company EdgeWave and since then Dr. Du acts as President and CEO of EdgeWave GmbH. He holds more than 70 patents or patent applications and published more than 100 publications. EdgeWave offers innovative solutions in field compact diode pumped solid state lasers for different applications.
