Invited by State Engineering Research Center of Engineering Plastics, Prof. Nishiyama Yoshiharu from CERMAV-CNRS visited Technical Institute of Physics and Chemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences (TIPC, CAS) on Nov. 4 and gave a wonderful lecture entitled What the crystal structures tell us about molecular interactions of polysaccharides.

His lecture divides into 5 parts: 1. Multiple approaches for structure analysis 2. What do we learn from the structure 3. What are the origins of discrepancies 4. Where does the parameters come from 5. Diffraction from nonperiodicmodels of cellulose crystals.
