Invited by Key Laboratory of Cryogenics,  Dr. David Hann  from University of Nottingham Visited TIPC on Oct. 14 and gave a report entitled Summary of Optical measurement techniques and their applications: My life and work in 60 minutes.

In the report,  Dr. David Hann introduced his work in Current Measurement in the recent two decades, includes water waves, combustion instabilities, multiphase fluids and thermal management, etc.

Dr Hann has worked in the area of optical measurement techniques in fluid and thermal applications since 1990. In 1990 he graduated from the University of Edinburgh with a PhD. His work looked at using Particle Image Velocimetry and Laser Doppler Velocimetry to measure non-linear Acoustics. Following this he worked as research Fellow, firstly at Edinburgh, then at King’s College in London, before taking a Marie Curie Fellowship at Trinity College in Dublin. In 2005 he took a lectureship position at the University of Nottingham in the Mechanical Engineering Department.

Through the years he has worked on using optical techniques to measure density, thickness, temperature as well as velocity. These have been in the areas of Acoustics, water wave dynamics, combustion and multi-phase physicsa.
