Invited by the TIPC Cryogenic Engineering and System Application Research Center, Prof. John Weisend II from European Spallation Source visited TIPC on 4th June 2018. Prof. Linghui Gong, Prof. Qing Li, Prof. Liqiang Liu and Prof. Jihao Wu etc. attended the seminar. Prof. Xiujuan Xie delivered a report entitled “Progress on Development of Helium Cryo-plants at TIPC”, introduced the development of the cryogenic technology and system engineering, and the integration and commissioning of a Full Localization at TIPC. Prof. John Weisend II is currently the deputy director of Accelerator Projects and group leader for Specialized Technical Services at the European Spallation Source in Lund, Sweden. Prof. Weisend’s research interests include Helium II, cryogenic safety and large scale accelerator cryogenics. During the seminar, Prof John Weisend II delivered a report entitled “Large Scale Helium Cryogenics in Scientific Facilities”, and presented his latest research on the development of large scale helium cryogenic plants, cryogenic engineering analysis, as well as the design for the ESS, CDMS, FRIB and Super B projects. Finally, he also discussed with TIPC faculties and students.
