Functional Ceramic Materials Research Group (FCMRG),which was founded in 2004, has been engaged in the R & D of structural as well as functional ceramic materials and especially in the integration of both structural and functional properties in one ceramic material. The main research activities in FCMRG are as follows: * Design and fabrication of α-SiAlON as a infrared light transparent window material * Non-equilibrium fabrication of transparent ceramic bulk materials in High gravity. * Transparent ceramic Armors * Nitrogen ceramic phosphors for LED lighting * Combustion synthesis of ceramic powders The research work on combustion synthesis of nitrogen ceramics has been reported as invited presentations several times in international symposium. Based on the financial support from NNSF and National High Technology New Material (863) project, a pilot scale production line for high pressure combustion synthesis of Si3N4 and ultra-fine SiC powders at normal pressure was built in Hai-Dian district in Beijing, which is also a platform for scaling up the technique developed in our laboratory. There are 5 staffs in FCMRG, including 1 professor, two A/Prof, one assistant professor and one post-doc., Prof. Jiang-Tao Li is the director of this laboratory. |
