About

It has been more than 50 years since cryogenic technique got developed in our country, especially cryogenic engineering. Considerable development has been reached on the method to get low-temperature, the theoretical basis, and the application of the technique. Cryogenic system is usually constituted by the compressor, expander or throttling mechanism, as well as heat exchangers, separation equipment, purification equipment, and storage equipment. Therefore, the organization and design of all the devices and processes, the principle and basis of the machinery and equipment, the insulation, security and automation issues of the machineries are important elements in cryogenic technique, especially in large-scale cryogenic system. Typical systems are cryogenic and ultra-high vacuum environment simulation, air separation devices, gas refrigeration, and liquefied devices.
Cryogenic system technology laboratory (CRYOSYS), Technical institute of physics and chemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences(Former Cryogenic Laboratory, CAS), with excellent design and processing ability, is one of the pioneers for development and application of expansion turbine with gas bearings in China, successfully making use of the turbine in gas refrigeration system and gas liquefaction separation equipments. Lots of work has been done on kinds of gas bearing and high-efficiency gas bearing turbine. Rich experience has been gained on design of large-scale cryogenic system and the combination of all the equipment. Many projects have been completed, such as natural gas direct expansion, nitrogen expansion refrigeration cycle, mixed refrigerants refrigeration cycle, the combination of natural gas direct expansion refrigeration and mixed refrigerants refrigeration cycle.
 
Major work:
1. Large-scale cryogenic system, including the turbine cooling system, mixed refrigerants refrigeration systems and a combination of both refrigeration systems for the treatment of natural gas, coal bed methane and various chemical tail-gas.
2. Reliability and stability research of gas bearing turbine has been carried out corresponding to the properties of chemical tail-gas.
3. High-power oil bearing turbine and gas bearing turbine with turbine compressor are being researched.
