About |
Research Interests The major focus of our research is on the molecular design and synthesis of novel d5-10 organometallic complexes that have potential practical applications in biomedicine, organic optoelectronics and light-induced multi-electron transfer photocatalysis. Of particular interest are mono- and polynuclear metal complexes containing naphthyridyl derivative and polypyridyl ligands and exhibiting short metal-metal contacts. Based on X-ray crystal analysis results, ground- and excited state spectra, excited state emission and time-resolved absorption spectra are investigated, and a fundamental understanding of relationship between the excited state properties and the structures of these complexes could be established. Moreover, attempts will be made to explore potential applications of the molecular materials as phosphorescent materials and VOCs sensors as well as photocatalysts for reduction of water to hydrogen and preparation of organic compounds from CO2 and H2O.
