Prof. WANG Chunsheng from the University of Maryland College Park Visited TIPC

Update time:2019-03-27

Invited by the CAS Key Laboratory of Bio-inspired Materials and Interfacial Science and the TIPC Youth Forum, Prof. WANG Chunsheng from the University of Maryland College Park delivered a seminar entitled “Water-in-Salt Electrolytes for Li-ion Batteries” at TIPC on March 22, 2019.

Lithium-ion batteries have revolutionized people's lives. However, the organic electrolytes used are easy to burn, and the safety problems have received widespread attention. In addition, as the demand for high energy density of lithium ion batteries, the development of low-cost electrolytes and high energy density electrode materials has become a very significant issue. Prof. WANG Chunsheng gave a detailed introduction to the use of high-salt electrolyte technology to broaden the voltage window of water-based electrolyte and improve the safety. Moreover, the latest developments in low-cost electrolyte additives and non-transition metal cathode materials were introduced. Finally, he enthusiastically discussed with faculties and students of TIPC.
