Invited by the CAS Key Laboratory of Bio-inspired Materials and Interfacial Science and the TIPC Youth Forum, Prof. TSENG Hsian-Rong from University of California, Los Angeles delivered a seminar entitled “Nanomaterials-Embedded Microchip as Liquid Biopsy-Based Diagnostics in Cancer and Prenatal Applications” at TIPC on May 20, 2019.
Prof. TSENG has been devoted to the molecular diagnosis and treatment of diseases for many years, focusing on the construction of nanomaterials and microfluidic platforms. Prof. TSENG introduced his research achievements in liquid biopsy in recent years, focusing on the detection of circulating tumor cells in the blood of patients with prostate cancer by microfluidic chip with nanostructure. Through statistical analysis of a series of clinical data, it was found that the detection of very small circulating tumor cells (smaller than 8.5 μm) in blood has a good guiding significance for early diagnosis, medication and post-operative monitoring of cancer. Finally, he enthusiastically discussed with faculties and students of TIPC.
