Invited by the CAS Key Laboratory of Bio-inspired Materials and Interfacial Science and the TIPC Youth Forum, Prof. Jian Ren Lu from University of Manchester delivered a seminar entitled “Selectivity Tuning of Designed Short Antimicrobial Peptides” at TIPC on July 5, 2019.
Prof. Jian Ren Lu’s research interests focus on the scientific issues about the biological interface, including designing new biological surfactant and functionalized peptide etc. During the seminar, Prof. Jian Ren Lu started with the problem of the antibacterial resistance and pointed out that the membrane disruption is a major mechanism to explore. Then, he systematically introduced his researches on the short antimicrobial peptides designing. He developed a series of peptides and investigated their behaviors in the interaction with membrane by employing theoretical and experimental methods. He also gave an outlook on the peptide-based technology. Finally, he enthusiastically discussed with faculties and students of TIPC.
