ISNB 2023 was organized by Bureau of International Cooperation, Chinese Academy of Sciences (BIC, CAS) and Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) Beijing Representative Office. The purpose of the symposium aimed to promote friendly academic exchanges between scholars in the field of nanophotonics, and biophotonics from China and Japan, The Technical Institute of Physics and Chemistry, CAS (TIPC, CAS), Photonics Center of Osaka University, Optical Precision Forming Professional Committee, Chinese Society for Imaging Science and Technology were the co-organizer of the symposium.

The theme of ISNB 2023 was "Focusing on the International Frontiers of Nanophotonics and Biophotonics". The symposium gathered 15 Chinese and Japanese scientists from 12 renowned research institutions, including several institutes of CAS, Tsinghua University, Peking University, Osaka University, Kyushu University and so on. Invited speakers conducted academic reports on the topics such as the development of new optical functional materials, advanced super-resolution optical microscopy imaging technology, and femtosecond laser micro-nano 3D printing technology.

After each report, scientists conducted extensive and in-depth discussions. The symposium has provided a successful platform for communication between Chinese and Japanese scientists in the field of nanophotonics and biophotonics. ISNB 2023 also provided an opportunity for strengthen cooperation in the new era. During the symposium, some representatives went to the Panyu Campus of Jinan University for discussions.

The opening ceremony was hosted by Prof. ZHENG Meiling from TIPC, CAS, the chairman of ISNB 2023 from China. While the closing ceremony was presented by Prof. Katsumasa FUJITA from Photonics Center, Osaka University, who is Japanese chairman of the symposium. Dr. JIANG Yiqi from BIC, CAS and Director Hideyuki YAMAGUCHI from JSPS Beijing Representative Office delivered important speeches in both opening and closing ceremony.

Around 35 young teachers and students from universities attended the symposium.
